The X-Man Returns To New York

….but not to Queens. For the mere price of OF Jose Tabata, pitchers Phil Coke, George Kotos, and Ross Ohlendorf, the Yankees have acquired OF Xavier Nady along with Damaso Marte.  Never mind what this does to the price of Raul Ibanez, who’s gonna be the one to break the news to Kuff & The Buttheads?

That would be Lefty Relief pitcher Damaso Marte, not IF Andy Marte. The Pirates can’t trade away players they don’t have.

  2. Damaso Marte says:

The Yankees acquired me, not Andy.

  3. Ward York says:

Andy’s on the Indians & plays 3B; Damaso’s the guy they got, for their bullpen.

this is even worse than the time I wrote the Twins were keeping Nelson Liriano in the minors. Or all the times my dad has reminisced about SNL re-runs starring Jan Murray.

My apologies to the respective Marte familes. I deeply regret the error(s).

It would have been a better deal if we’d been able to give up Andy Marte but I still like this one for the Bucs. If I were a Yankee fan I’d probably like this deal also.

If the Pirates still had Littlefield, they would have waited until the deadline and taken Coke and Kotos.

i remain curious what they’re gonna get for Jack Wilson and/or Jason Bay. Though by the night of the trade, I can’t promise I won’t call ’em Hack Wilson and Michael Bay.
