Lights, camera, flop: The production company run by the Kings-owning Maloof family is looking to do an HBO comedy series about an NBA expansion team.

So says Daily Variety. The trade paper reports that Maloof Television is in talks about the series with HBO and Section Eight, the production company founded by filmmaker Steven Soderbergh and actor George Clooney.

The series would focus on a coach, a cheerleader, a veteran player and a rookie.

Former King Vlade Divac (above) is up for the role of the veteran, Variety says.

Former Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson may be the coach.

Andrew Jameson, president of Maloof TV, tells us he can’t discuss the venture just yet.

“We’ve been instructed by the network and our partners not to,” he says.

In a completely unrelated story, I Heart KG’s ‘Lil Dice spreads speculation that recently dismissed T-Wolves dancer Krisan (above) was “fired for sleeping with one of the players”. Which, presumably, is against the rules.

Ralph Sampson (above) has been indicted on charges of lying about his finances while trying to obtain a court-appointed attorney in his non-payment of child support case. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, has not, however, charged Sampson with being one of the most highly touted busts in NBA history, as that isn’t really a crime.
