While this particular riot seems mild compared to Slayer at the old Felt Forum, I do think someone oughta lay the blame on Stagg, The Official Chili of Monosodium Glutamate.

In no way is this fight an indictment of inner-city, hip-hop, or “thug” culture. Kids will be kids. We all know that. Come on! Who cares if a girl was punched in the mouth, and a melee ensued? This game is a “rivalry.” You should expect this kind of behavior at a high school basketball game. The fans are just showing their true emotions for their teams. Sure, gunfire was heard outside the Garden, but who doesn’t carry their gun to a high school basketball game? You never know who else might be armed. Sure, there were charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and inciting a riot, but it wasn’t the fault of the kids — did I mention that they’re 17 and 18 year olds? — surely it had to be the fault of the cops. I mean, they’re always looking for trouble. Surely they escalated the fight. What they should have done is …. well, I’m not entirely sure. But they’re at fault. And old, white, Republican men — I’m blaming them too. I don’t think they’re paying enough taxes as it is. We have to point the finger at somebody! What, you mean maybe these out of control kids are to blame, and possibly their parents, too? Nonsense. That would mean taking responsibility for one’s actions, and as you know, we are quite incapable of that. [/irrational liberal rant]
KuntKurt, what exactly are you on about, buddy? I witnessed said Slayeriffic throwdown at the Garden along with the craziness that ensued following Bowe/Gulotta I at the same venue. Neither melee involved black teens, and neither incident resulted in metal or boxing being banned from MSG. Sometimes, heavy shit goes down at a mass gathering.
