The New York Times’ Clifford Brown, while trying to describe the mania surrounding the Seattle Seahawks’ attempt to capture their first NFC Championship, doesn’t quite do the city justice.

Seahawks players past and present can sense Seattle’s excitement as they drive through the city, watch television and listen to the radio. In their opinion, the time has come for Seattle, known for its rain and for its coffee, to be known for its football.

(Space Needle. Get it? Needle.)

In his “Viva! Sea-Tac”, Robyn Hitchcock sang”they’ve got the best computers, coffee and smack.” And while Brown did get one out of three, he failed to acknowledge The Dehumanizers’ “Kill Lou Guzzo”, Sir Mix A-Lot’s “My Posse’s On Broadway”, Buddy Bradley or Blowhole.
