Published and web reports in the dozens claim that Bills head coach Mike Mularkey will announce his resignation today, despite having $3 million and 3 years remaining on his contract.
Whether this is because Mularkey can’t hire the assistants he wants or perhaps the combined weight of owner Ralph Wilson and new President of Football Operations Marv Levy’s 200 years of experience is too much to bear, I can’t say for certain. I can’t even say for uncertain. But ’05’s miserable Bills campaign aside, someone will recall Mularkey’s work as offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh, and he’ll be a candidate somewhere, soon.
As for Buffalo, surely the club will consider interviewing their most celebrated alumnus of all-time. And I’m not talking about Jim Kelly or Thurman Thomas.
