says Tim Cook,
……by offering a one year, 2.6 mil contract to Ryan Franklin. Fans of the Mets, Nationals and Braves are gonna love this guy, let me tell ya! It hypothetically applies to whoever appears in the stands at Marlins home games, too.
Walks, Homeruns, blaming teammates for bad run support, fistfights with piching coaches, this guys does it all!
This is not good at all. I am one who is willing to go through another 80-something win year as long as it appeared that Gillick is getting the table set for 2007 and beyond (when a load of deadwood salary is cleared after the 2006 season) but Franklins #s are horrific, and even if a change of scenery helps Franklin become a servicable one-year pick-up, he is still a roadblock in the way of testing out/developing some of the Phillies young arms in the rotation
(Madson/Floyd/Brito/Tejada).
Has the American monetary currancy devalued so much that Ryan Franklin can command 2.6 million not yen, not pesos, not lira, but USD?
If only Gillick would deal for Willie Bloomquist, lefty deadweight Matt Thornton and Carl Everett, the M’s would be set!
The Phillies only need live arms. Coors East is no place for talented pitchers.
