While the New York Daily News’ Mitch Lawrence raises the possibility of a Jason Kidd for Mike Bibby swap between Jersey and Sacramento, the Bergen Record’s Al Iannazzone would have us believe the Nets and Knicks have discussed sending Vince Carter across the Hudson River for Channing Frye, Jamal Crawford and Malik Rose. Considering said transaction might only mean renting Carter for 25 games (and I’ll only write this once), not even Isiah Thomas is that crazy.

Iannazzone also claims there’s been talk of Phoenix exchanging Raja Bell, Kurt Thomas and a 2007 first round pick for Kidd, an assertion the Star-Ledger’s Dave D’Allesandro comes close to confirming.

Ostensibly, the Suns are worried about Steve Nash’s chronic back problem, and even though they don’t have the kind of salaries it would take to land Kidd, they wanted to get involved — even if it was only to keep him away from the Lakers.

Finally, the Daily News’ Austin Fenner and Corky Siemaszko provide details of Joumana Kidd physically attacking a female friend of her husband’s. It seems Mrs. Kidd has recently hired P.R. flack Marvet Britto, whom if memory serves me correctly, once represented Gary Sheffield.
