Lions DT turned thespian powerhouse Alex Karras passed away earlier today at the age of 77, just six months after filing suit with 69 other former NFL players over concussion-related injuries. Though Karras is best remembered by non-football fans for his star turns in “Blazing Saddles” and his long tenure as Emmanuel Lewis’ adopted dad on “Webster”, it’s his role in the 1977 made-for-TV film, “Mad Bull” that I’ll recall most fondly. There haven’t been too many movies about journeyman heels seeking revenge against babyfaces that worked stiff (and later being stalked for such) — in fact, I think it’s probably the smallest pro wrestling cinema subgenre.
