From the Newark Star-Ledger’s Frank Giase :
The Major Indoor Soccer League has ceased operations but the New Jersey Ironmen vow to play on.
The 7-year-old league is looking to restructure itself and return in the fall with a new name and a reduced schedule, but in better financial health. MISL commissioner Steve Ryan resigned last week, and a few days later the California Cougars, a third-year team, left the league in the attempt to join the Premier Arena Soccer League, a West coast venture.
The Ironmen, an expansion team that played in the Prudential Center this past season, finished with a 14-16 record and lost in the first round of the playoffs.
Between the collapse of the MISL and the slim turnouts for NJIT hooks last winter, what are the chances the Prudential Center becomes the nation’s first 10,000 + capacity venue for roller derby?
