In the rich tradition of the Angry Samoans’ “Get Off The Air” and the Deuhamnizers’ “Kill Lou Guzzo”, here’s Thunderegg’s “Tim McCarver Must Die” (mp3, thanks to Jon Solomon for the link).
How Joe Buck manages to escape the wrath of Thunderegg, I’ll never know, but I’m sure songwriting of this caliber doesn’t come easy.
damn…it’s about time. i shoulde’ve written one years ago but……well, i CAN’T write songs. i’m taking thunderegg out to dinner sometime.
What’s with the “songwriting of this caliber” crack?
Thunderegg is an incredibly prolific, broadly talented rock-machine. See for yourself at http://www.thunderegg.org/thisweek.htm where Thunderegg is posting a new song every week this entire year. And while you’re there check out their six-CDs worth of pre-2005 music. “Tim Carver Must Die” is clever and funny, but it should be properly appreciated in the context of the vast Thunderegg canon.
It’s okay, loyal fans…the Egg did not feel insulted. “Tim McCarver Must Die” was written in real time (39 seconds) on the back of the gas bill. It’s true that there is better stuff on the site, but there is nothing that gets to the point faster.
Ladies and gents,
no offense was intended. I think my comparisons to the two songs mentioned in the original post show that I consider Thunderegg to be in very fine company. Hence the line “I’m sure songwriting of this caliber doesn’t come easy”.
Now that we’ve learned that IT DOES, in fact, come easy, the artistic achievment is even more impressive.
