(Zambrano to Cubs:  Curse My Ass)
Carlos Zambrano went public + with his demand of $15.5/year by Opening Day or 2007 is his last in a Cub uniform. It would be a giant loss to the Cubs, considering what he’s done, for whom, and under Dusty Baker’s care, no less. As The Tribune‘s Paul Sullivan reports — and Sullivan apparently has an inside source called WGN radio — Z says:

“I’m ready to sign, and I would do my job anyway with the Cubs this year,” Zambrano said. “Whatever happens, I don’t want to know [anything] about a contract during the season. I want to sign with the Cubs before the season starts. If they don’t sign me, sorry, but I must go. That’s what Carlos Zambrano thinks.”
