Longtime Oakland A’s play-by-play man Bill King passed away earlier today following complications from hip surgery.

King, who also called games for the NBA’s Warriors and NFL’s Raiders for two decades each, is an iconic figure in Bay Area Sports history. I’ll leave it to our Northern California friends to eulogize King properly, but suffice to say that even for an infrequent visitor to that region such as myself, his voice is inextricably linked to those clubs.
