OK, I realize Anthrax have a greater connection to the NYC area and deserve some credit for selling out the Nu Stadium (even if they’re 4th on the bill), but the above tweet/proclamation (link courtesy Big League Stew) strikes me as very strange. Not because of any 9/11 insensitivity, mind you, but rather Scott Ian’s attempt to steal the on-deck circle from the Yankees’ Tampa spring training facility in 1997. If such a criminal act can be forgiven by the Steinbrenners, why not have Ruben Rivera throw out the first pitch during the Bombers’ first home game after September 11?
