What’s more brutal for Memphis, that they lost their home opener to Washington, or that they suffered said loss to a team that could only dress 8 active players, none of ’em named Gilbert Arenas or Larry Hughes?
I don’t think it is too early to say that Antwan Jamison is going to make a bigger difference as a starting forward for Washington than he did coming off the bench in Dallas. Which isn’t meant to imply that the former are ready to contend for anything. But here’s a safer forecast — last night’s Kings/Spurs opener showcased two perennial Western Conference powerhouses going in opposite directions. It’ll be something to witness when an entire city, nay, an entire nation, comes together in the hopes that Brent Barry will finally get a ring. Or perhaps there will be another compelling storyline — I’m open to the possibility.
