From the Delaware Journal News :
Asked Monday about Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock’s decision to start him against the Sabres, goaltender Robert Esche said, “I don’t try getting in his head, that’s for sure. It’s an empty place.”
Hitchcock grew red-faced when told of Esche’s comment, and could only come back with the reply, “Tit for tat.”
Buffalo beat Philly, 9-1, Tuesday night. Esche played the entire game.
As a long time Flyers Fan I have to say I TOTALLY agree with what Hitch did last night. Let’s face it, the way the Flyers have played so far this season, compared to the Sabres, you just knew that after 4 goals, I’ll even give you 5, that the Flyers were NOT winning that game.
Hitch wanted to make a point. Besides, why risk Niittymaki when you know you are going to lose. It’s not February. It’s still very early and the Flyers can turn things around. However, I truely believe that changes upstairs need to be made. The days of the slow moving Broad Street Bullies are over. I think it is time for Clarky to step down.
