What better way to replace Randy Johnson in the Arizona rotation than to sign the man who couldn’t bear to throw at Roger Clemens’ head, Shawn Estes, he of the 15 wins and Coors-inflated ERA of 5.84 in 2004? Estes, a former, Cubs/Giants/Mets/Reds/Rockies starter, is expected to earn between $2.5 and $3 million in 2005.
Supposedly the Diamondbacks are close to sending 3B Shea Hillenbrand to the Blue Jays in exchange for P Adam Peterson (15 saves, 2.54 ERA for New Hampshire of the Eastern League last year).
