The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, a Class AA baseball team in Manchester, N.H., tried a different promotion this week, offering free tickets to anyone who shoveled snow off their field so the team could play Friday. One fan showed up, according to WBZ-TV.

No word on whether the team has plans for a “Do the Laundry Night.

While this afternoon’s Indians/Mariners doubleheader has been snowed out, they’re playing baseball in the Bronx. Or at least the Orioles are, having teed off on debutante Kei Igawa, with both Nick Markakis and Melvin Mora having homered early.  Steve Trachsel has allowed little more damage than a 2-run HR to Alex Rodriguez, as the Yankees trail the O’s, 7-2 thru 3 1/2.
