Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal is reporting that veteran pitcher Joe Kennedy, most recently with Toronto, passed away Friday morning in Florida.
An earlier cached version of the Fox headline claims the cause of death was a brain aneurysm.
Kennedy compiled a 43-61 record over 7 seasons with Tampa Bay, Colorado, Oakland, Arizona and the Blue Jays. Sporting a career ERA of 4.52, Kennedy’s best full season came with the Rockies in 2004, in which in won 9 games and finished with a career low 3.66 ERA in more than 162 innings pitched.
Shit – now we have to resign Towers… local media has indicated the aneurysm was more of the Len Bias variety than the John Olerud (or late period Nirvana b-side).
I just wanted to say that I know Joes’ mom and so far I’ve heard no cause of death. If this is just a rumor…it should really stop until there is something official. This family does not need rumors and stuff right now….they need the love and prayers of the country, the baseball community and all of us who love someone or many someones.
