ESPN’s marquee baseball time slot ” Sunday nights ” will this season get a three-man broadcast booth. But the three announcers, in a move that will be formally announced Monday, won’t necessarily all be together in the actual booth.
Reporter Peter Gammons (above), who already pops up relentlessly on ESPN, will join ESPN lead baseball announcers Jon Miller and Joe Morgan. But Norby Williamson, ESPN/ABC executive vice president, says Gammons might be in the booth or stationed in the stands.
“I’m not sure yet,” says Williamson. “I want to put Peter in a position where he feels comfortable. What I don’t want to do is have us say, ‘Now let’s go to Peter Gammons.’ I want him to have an established and continual presence.”
