As noted earlier, the New York Mets’ Triple-A affiliation does a switcheroo next season, as the Norfolk Tides celebrate their hookup with the Orioles, while the Amazins’ begin an association with the New Orleans Zeyphrs of the Pacific Coast League.

Still, despite being mindful of the above facts, I thought it was a questionable move on the part of the Mets brass to enlist Paul Lo Duca for a glad-handing, photo-op visit to New Orleans this week.

While poor weather meant Lo Duca could not make his flight, the above photograph from today’s New York Times demonstrates that Mr. Met has enough of that Captain Red Ass spirit to go around. Writes Jason Cohen, “Mr. Met’s charisma is such that he doesn’t need beads to get young girls to lift up their top, right?”

Even more disturbing was learning the Mets and Zephyrs planned this event at an establishment called “Pat O’Brien’s”.
