My fellow Phillies phan Brendan Lynch just checked in to our e-mail group with this:

Todd Zolecki says today
that we’ve signed 39-year-old Rudy Seanez. I am, for reasons you can imagine, seeking confirmation of the veracity of this report…

Well, I suppose we can be sure they aren’t foolsters on the team’s official page (unless you count that video of Pat Burrell dancing to “Never Gonna Give You Up”).

The 39-year-old right-hander went 6-3 with a 3.79 ERA in a career-high 73 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2007. In a 16-year career spent with eight teams, he is 36-26 with a 4.15 ERA.

Seanez was released in the final week of Spring Training after posting a 7.71 ERA in Cactus League play with the Dodgers.

And yet Jose Mesa and Antonio Alfonseca are still unemployed.
