Mets 2B Kaz Matsui will miss 3 weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. Matsui suffered the injury during last night’s exhibition game against Atlanta, though is expected to fully recover and resume disappointing Mets fans in the near future.
The 2B job is pretty much Anderson Hernandez’ to lose, just as it is likely that Jeff Keppinger will head north in two weeks.
The Nats’ Luis Ayala is facing Tommy John surgery after aggraviting a pre-existing elbow problem while with the Mexican team in the WBC. If the Nationals had a real owner, they could issue a sternly worded disclaimer about this mishap. Preferably after a public apology for signing Christian Guzman.
