Larry Sweeney, whose stints in ROH and Chikara were marked by some of the funniest and most inspired heel promos of the modern era, was found dead earlier this week at a Lake Charles, LA wrestling school from an apparent suicide by hanging.   Sweeney, a two-time Wrestling Observer Newsletter Poll winner for Best Non-Wrestler, was characterized by Slam! Sports’ Greg Oliver as someone who “obviously had given the sport a lot more thought than most”.  That’s kind of an understatement — Sweeney was the sort of performer who could’ve redefined the antagonist role far into the future. Though he never earned a regular mainstream platform, those familiar with his work from the indie circuit and/or the internet know all too well how huge a talent they’ve lost.
