Texas 96, Texas State 70

Despite Kevin Durant running into foul trouble and some horribly sloppy play in the first half, Texas had little trouble with the Southland Conference’s Bobcats Saturday afternoon, as DJ Augustin (above) followed last week’s stellar showing against LSU with a 24 point outburt. For Longhorns coach Rick Barnes, the win marked career victory no. 400, placing him a mere 478 behind Texas Tech’s Bobby Knight, a 71-56 winner at Arkansas earlier today. The Razorbacks travel to Austin on Wednesday night, the first Big 12 contest of the season for the hosts.

(KORRECTION KORNER : Arkansas is part of the SEC, not the Big 12. Also, Moe Bandy did not win the Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop Poll in 1994.)

Full credit to Alando Tucker and his Wisconsin teammates on a convincing 89-75 home defeat of no. 2 Pittsburgh this afternoon, but Saturday’s biggest upset so far might be Georgia knocking off No. 16 Gonzaga behind 25 points from Levi Stukes. Afterwards, Jim Mora Jr. could be heard phoning his bookmaker, explaining the message he left earlier about “betting the house” on the Zags was only meant in jest.
