Though Joel Sherman has already weighed in on the matter of Randy Johnson’s disappearing act last night, the former is not in the employ of the local competition for the hearts and minds of New Yorkers.
“This is a 42 year old man that should know better.” opined Gary Cohen during today’s Mets/Braves broadcast. “Arrogance, pure arrogance,” agreed Howie Rose. “How sad is it that there are ballplayers who become anti-heroes, like Barry Bonds or Randy Johnson, where you actually root against them.”
Presumably, Miguel Cairo, who popped up to right while Cohen and Rose were editorializing about the crosstown Yankees’ angry ace, is not one of those players.
