Congrats to LSU’s Les Miles, who woke up this morning preparing for a personal triumph he and his family will long cherish. Sure, there’s the small matter of an SEC Championship encounter with Tennessee, but more importantly, Miles managed to use an approach on the part of Michigan to garner what should be a lucrative contract extention to stay in Baton Rouge.
ESPN.com had to hastily remove an earlier post in which Kirk Herbstreit claimed Miles would be introduced as Michigan’s new head coach in a matter of days.
Tom Eagleton and Yorvit Torreable were both unavailable for comment.
This is great news–for UM, not LSU. Miles is greatly overrated. He is an absolutely awful game coach and just as awful as a program’s leader (e.g., insane media comments including LSU still being the #1 team because it’s undeferated in regulation).
This, again, is great news for UM. Go after Tedford or Petrino … or Urban Meyer (though I can’t see that one happening). All of these guys would be much better than Les.
can I submit Tom Coughlin’s name for the UM gig? He’s not lost a collegiate game in YEARS. And man, can he ever connect with young people.
