While noting that the NYRA has a habit of treating it’s paying customers better than the Yankees and MLB treat playoff ticket holders (ie. the former is quick to cancel an event that few were likely to attend, while the latter have no conscience over the punter sitting through a monsoon in a sold-out stadium), the New York Post’s Phil Mushnick enjoyed the following moment from FSN’s coverage of the Canadiens/Devils game Wednesday night :
After the second period, Stan Fischler and Ken Daneyko interviewed Don Lever, in 1982, the Devils’ first captain. Fischler noted that Lever was known as a character. Lever provided an example: “There used to be a race to the shower to see Chico Resch lift up his weave and blow-dry his hair.”
Sidearm Delivery’s Dave Zukauskas correctly noted that Sean Avery’s arrival on Broadway was received with a near Pavlovian reaction by much of the blogosphere (ie. repeated mentions of Avery squeeze Elisha Cuthbert), but funnily enough, there’s not been nearly as much talk about the former Kings LW’s interesting thoughts regarding Europeans.
