from today’s Observer :

The Dutch FA’s hard line on racist abuse? Twente Enschede striker Blaise N´Kufo reacted to monkey noises from Den Haag fans last week by smiling towards and applauding them. The Dutch FA’s response? Threatening N’Kufo with a ban for ‘crowd provocation’. ‘I don’t understand why I’m being punished,’ says N’Kufo. ‘To me respect is very important. But if people don’t have any for me, I don’t have any for them.’ An FA spokesman said N’Kufo’s behaviour had a ‘negative outcome on the image of Dutch football – players must always behave properly’.
