I don’t wanna get all Rob Dibble on you or anything, but you can keep your Derek Jeter climbing over Robinson Cano or Mike Cameron catching a fly ball after tripping over himself. CSTB’s early nominee for the Play of 2005 is the Angels’ Darin Erstad levelling Braves C Johnny Estrada in the away 8th inning of Anaheim’s 4-2 win over Atlanta.
Despite my dislike for the Braves, I wish Estrada a speedy recovery — especially since my fantasy team is gonna go to hell without him. But in an era in which more often than not, players seem to avoid takeouts (David Wright and Wendy’s excepted), this was a classic collision.
Even as a Braves fan, I say amen to that. I wish we played that hard.
Been reading for months and love it. Please keep it up. (Especially when the Mets revert to suckiness).
thanks, John.
