Rashard Lewis’ putrid 3-14 from the floor showing was only the second lamest performance last night in the Magic’s 106-96 loss to Phoenix, a result marked by some relatively uncreative heckling of a former Magic star. From the Arizona Republic’s Paul Coro :
Suns swingman Grant Hill said he was not shocked by the barrage of boos he received from Orlando fans upon his starting-lineup introduction and every time he touched the ball.
That is because the mystery was gone by then. Toward the end of the national anthem, a fan yelled, “Hill, you suck!”
One sign near the bench was a bill for $60.73 million, an amount Magic fans say Hill did not earn during his seven-year, $93 million contract because of the few games he played.
Another sign asked, “What is the difference between Grant Hill and a bank robber?”
Hill said, “That’s what fans are supposed to do.”
Considering Hill’s legit injury history, these are pretty low blows from an unsophisticated fan base. There’s a world of difference between Hill and a bank robber, Orlando rooters. For one thing, most bank robbers suck at the piano.
