If you know a Mets fan who is a little too giddy these days, this might bring him or her back to earth : The New York Daily News’ Adam Rubin predicts Jose Lima will be starting for the Metropolitans against Atlanta on Sunday.
If that wasn’t disturbing enough news, I’d like to apologize in advance for including the following item from the Detroit News’ Tom Gage :
Jim Leyland was asked before the game (the Angels’ 7-2 defeat of the Tigers) if he was doing anything the same way every day because the Tigers were on a six-game winning streak.
It turned out he was.
“I had the same pants on for six days,” he admitted. “My home-stand pants and the same shirt. It’s embarrassing. I looked like a hobo. If we lose, I’m going to be angry.
“But we’re going on the road, so I had to change.”
I don’t know if there’s a Hobo Anti-Defamation League, but being compared to Jim Leyland might convince somebody to start one.
Adam Rubin should read Mets.com:
“Maine man: The question mark following John Maine’s name was removed on Thursday. Randolph said Maine will make his second Mets start on normal four days’ rest on Sunday in the third game of the Braves series.”
