1B/DH Erubiel Durazo, on the shelf since undergoing Tommy John Surgery last summer, has signed with the Texas Rangers.
Just once, I’d like to read about a big leaguer electing to have Elton John Surgery. I’m not sure what that would entail, but I imagine plenty of flowers and glasses far snappier than my own.
The following mysterious message was published earlier today by MLB.com’s Ian Browne :
The Red Sox and Ramirez took a preventive measure to avoid a media circus later this week, announcing a compromise that stated the following:
“With the permission of the Boston Red Sox, Manny Ramirez will report to Spring Training in Fort Myers on March 1, 2006. Manny is in Florida completing an extensive training regimen and is prepared to have an exceptional season.”
Because nothing could precipitate a “media circus” quite like a veteran player reporting to camp the same time as his teammates.
