I don’t know if it’s fair to call Joe Thiesmann (above) an anachronism, but it would be nice if Cathy Lee Crosby stopped sticking pins in her J.T. voodoo doll.  From the Cleveland Plain-Dealer’s Bud Shaw.

Joe Theismann’s criticism of Brady Quinn’s “look” at the NFL draft was heavy- handed enough to question his motivation.

While so many others credited Quinn with showing grace and maturity in difficult circumstances after he fell to the 22nd pick in the first round, Theismann didn’t like the way Quinn wore his hair, tied his tie or that he chewed gum on stage.

That should give Quinn three early endorsements: Bubble Yum, Tieguys.com and Great Clips. But Theismann must have something bigger planned for himself to get so worked up.

Maybe a book idea: “Mr. Manners: Joe Thiesmann’s Pocket Guide to Looking Professional at the NFL Draft?”

Thiesmann’s remarks were first heard on ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike In The Morning”.  On Monday, paragon of manliness Mike Golic denounced Thiesmann’s critique as “ridiculous”.   Clearly, there’s a new hair style in the works for Golic.
