The New York Times’ Murray Chass reports the Mets are putting the finishing touches on a minor league deal for Ruben Sierra, who will no doubt bring the same sort of veteran leadership to New York’s Triple A affiliate in New Orleans that Jose Offerman and Michael Tucker brought to last season’s Norfolk squad.

Sam Frank, however, notes that not only is there little competition for Sierra’s services this winter, his “Imagen Viva” CD isn’t sparking a bidding war at eBay, either.
