Angels OF Vladimir Guerrero is the winner of the American League MVP award for 2004. Guerrero who hit .337 with 39 HR’s and 126 RBI’s pretty much carried Anaheim into the playoffs with a sensattional stretch run (.463 and 9 HR’s during the final two weeks), and seemed unaffected by the bad back that scared off many of his potential suitors the previous winter (including the NY Mets).
Garry Sheffield finished 2nd in the voting, following by Boston’s Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz.
The Mets must be so happy to avoid a guy with a back like that.
You know, the kind of back that can carry an entire team.
This is a monumental day for Russians in baseball.
