…or failing that, just ask him what he’s wearing right now. (link courtesy Derek Erdman)

After losing Shannon Stewart and Torii Hunter to foot injuries in yesterday’s 6-2 win over Cleveland, the Twins received big contributions this afternoon from the just-activated Rondell White (solo HR, double, runs scored) and former Met Jason Tyner (2 for 3, 2 RBI’s) in their 5-2 win over the Tribe. Carlos Silva survived a leadoff HR by Cleveland’s Grady Sizemore, and Joe Nathan picked up his 16th save.

Though I occassionally poke fun at the Austin American-Statesman’s Springfield Shopper-tendencies, every now and then, the paper’s sports section delivers the goods, big time. There’s a worthy survey of the evolution of baseball gloves in today’s edition, along with a profile of the Nokona brand (haven’t found that on the web, sadly) and perhaps best of all, Joe McEwing calling his Rawlings infielder’s mitt, “my whoopy”.

OK, that was a little Springfield Shopper-esque. But the rest of it is pretty entertaining. I’m not sure what to make of the revelation that Nokona’s only paid endorser is Todd Walker, though I suppose you get what you pay for.
