I was gonna brag about having recently caught the episode of “The Equalizer” starring Adam Ant as a white slaver (and Luis Guzman as a crooked cabbie!) but Newsday’s Neil Best has one again, kicked my ass in the crap TV sweepstakes.
Before Jim Leyritz allegedly killed a woman while driving drunk last week, he turned up in a bizarre TV appearance on a channel where most sports fans dare not tred: WE.
It was on a disturbing reality TV series called “Party Mamas,” in which mothers with too much time and/or money on their hands plan over-the-top parties for their children.
A woman named Cindy from somewhere on (yup) Long Island spends $30,000 on a baseball-themed birthday party for her 9-year-old son, $5,000 of which goes to Leyritz to make an appearance.
Cindy and Jim then compare notes about his 1996 World Series ring and learn something amusing but also sad about the history of it.
According to TiVo, the episode next will be shown at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Even Tom Candiotti thinks $5K is an outrageous amount for Leyritz to charge, even if the party is BYOB.
