Since more folks than usual have taken an interest in the recent post regarding the tragic death of Esme Barrera, I’d be remiss in not mentioning a couple of events in the Austin area arranged to raise money for her family’s funeral expenses. The first of which takes place at Club 1808 on Friday, January 13, from 5pm ’til closing and features performances from Literature, The Flesh Lights, Quin Galavis, The Gospel Truth, Cruddy, Crooked Bangs, Wino Vino and many others.
The second event, just confirmed earlier today, is at Beerland on Saturday night, January 28, and participants include The Crack Pipes, The Golden Boys, Ted Leo (solo) and Greg Enlow The Royal Butchers. There’s a 2pm matinee at the same venue featuring Knife In The Water, Ted Leo, December Boys, Simple Circuit and Literature.
(the above shirts are available here ; proceeds to Esme’s family)
The latter event is likely to hit capacity early ; when or if advance tickets are being sold, I’ll post something here. If you cannot attend either show and would like to assist, donations are still being accepted at For Our Esme.
(ADDENDUM : another benefit was just announced ; Love Collector, Foreign Mothers and Neighbor are playing The Scoot Inn on Thursday, January 12).
