Tigers 5, A’s 1 (Detroit leads the series, 1-0)

I have little to say about last night’s begining of the ALCS except that Nate Robertson (above) could use a better fashion guru than Todd Jones, Joel Zumaya is the deadliest exponent of Chula Vista, CA since the Vinyl Communications label, and the A’s are in deep, deep trouble.

Was this Barry Zito’s last start in an Oakland uniform? He could be run over by a bus tomorrow, so yeah, I think we have to consider the possibility.  Milton Bradley’s broken bat hit off Zumaya could be his last double if nuclear war with North Korea breaks out this afternoon.

If Oakland rebound to win the series with Detroit, they’ll be opening the third deck at McAfee Coliseum for their World Series games.

The SF Chronicle’s Henry Schulman
reports the Giants would like to interview Mets coaches Manny Acta and Jerry Manuel for their managerial vacancy.  Seriously, the greatest thing about all of these job openings is that we’ve yet to read about Gary Carter or Mike Schmidt being considered for any of ’em.
