Barry Bonds did his best to make Clay Hensley a semi-household name last night, victimizing the Padres starter for a first inning solo HR that left the Sultan of Surly tied with Hank Aaron at the career HR mark of 755. Bonds’ Giants lost, 3-2, in 12 innings, but Matt Morris will surely be happy to know that all the focus this morning is on Barry.

In case you’re looking for some souvenir merchandise to celebrate Bonds’ march towards history, Wizznutzz has you sorted.

The New York Times’ Jack Curry claims that Bonds is so zeroed in on the task at hand (ie. padding stats during a crummy Giants campaign), he’s not even aware of his at bat music (“No Marvin Gaye, no Stevie Wonder and no Dr. Dre.”)

Bonds is so focused on hitting that he says he ignores everything else. While Bonds is enough of a fan of the rapper Biggie Smalls that he wore a T-shirt with his image last week, he does not waste time choosing songs that will never pierce his eardrums.

œI don™t hear anything, Bonds said.

Alex Rodriguez, the player who Bonds says will someday pass him as the home run king, uses œThis Is Why I™m Hot, by the rapper Mims as his song before an at-bat.

Bonds does not have Mims on his digital music player.

œI don™t know who that is, Bonds said. œMy son probably knows him.
