On XM this morning, former Phillies manager Larry Bowa sneered at published reports he’s “interested” in the newly vacant managerial position in Kansas City. While admitting that he’d take a phone call from Allan Baird, Bowa dismissed claims he was openly campaigning for the job and was particularly amused at one writer’s description of himself as “hard-nosed”.

“You know, they write that kind of stuff about me off the field, too,” complained Larry. “Once in Philadelphia, I read that I had given a waiter a hard time. That’s ridiculous. I would never yell at a waiter. I respect what they do.”

Long pause.

“Now if you’ve got a problem, you wanna go back to the kitchen and find the cook. He’s the guy to grab by the throat.”
