(admittedly, I’m a little lazy with the entries at Google Image search ; spelling counts!)
Cleveland GM Mark Shapiro doesn’t need anyone to write “this is a sinking ship” on a bulletin board. He knows. And accordingly, he traded reliever Bob Wickman (not pictured above) to the Braves today for catcher Max Ramirez.
Back to the bulletin board for a minute, MLB.com reports the Brewers are interested in the universally well-liked Shea Hillenbrand. They’d better get that Babies-R-Us gift certificate ready, or it might be a moody clubhouse.
There might be no greater advocate of root beer’s medicinal properties than this correspondent. But even I was taken aback by the Oakland A’s plans to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation with their 7th Annual MUG Root Beer Float Day. I look forward to similar efforts to benefit Mothers Against Drunk Driving, sponsored by Budweiser.
After the young Braves lit up Cardinals pitching to the sum of 33 runs in 3 games earlier this week, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Jeff Gordon surmises “there are zero players at Memphis ready to assume a major role here.” As John Gall makes his way to Korea, Gordon wishes the outfielder well, but writes, “he lacked the versatility of, say, Scott Spiezio.” A most cruel baseball epitaph.
I hope the braves know they got defective goods, they traded a guy with 10 fingers away for someone with only 9 and a half. This comment sucks….I should drink more Old Style and comment again.
