Ka-Boom! That was the sound of former teammates Danny Ainge and Kevin McHale blowing up their respective lineups. From the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett.
The Celtics have reached agreement tonight on a trade that sends Ricky Davis, Mark Blount, Marcus Banks, Justin Reed and two future second-round draft picks to Minnesota for Wally Szczerbiak (above), Michael Olowokandi and rookie Dwayne Jones.
The deal constitutes a dramatic change for the Celts, who have struggled to a 17-25 record. Davis (above) had been leading the team in minutes played (fourth in the league at 41.6) and was the team™s second leading scorer at 19.7 behind Paul Pierce.
Orlando beat Philly 119-115 in OT tonight and if there’s any consolation for the Sixers, there were few on hand to witness it. The box score may claim 14,115, but they’re not supposed to count all the ants in the building. Allen Iverson had 38 points and 15 assists ; the Magic’s Stevie Franchise, seemingly rejuvenated after his suspension, had 15 assists.
Pierce and Szczerbiak coexisting should be fun to watch.
