It would only be appropriate (though not accurate) at this juncture for a surviving member of Candlebox to hold Mr. Corgan accountable for the demise of ECW. From Home Run Derby‘s Richie Rich:
Thursday night during a break at the Smashing Pumpkins show at the Chicago Theater, lead singer and Cub fan Billy Corgan waxed poetic about the Bears winning the Super Bowl in 2012, Mike Ditka coming out of retirement, and his beloved Cubs, while getting in some digs at White Sox fans – telling them to stay the F*ck out of his Cubs Fan conversations.
Then Corgan said that he might write a song about the Cubs ¦
“God Bless Steve Goodman, but I think I can do better than ˜Go Cubs Go™
Really – I™ve been called a lot of things, arrogant is one of them. I don™t think this is arrogance. I think I can top ˜Go Cubs Go™”
Still on the subject of Cub-themed songs ¦ Corgan did what someone should have done a long time ago ¦ he blamed Eddie Vedder for the Cubs™ 2008 playoff collapse.
“If ¦ If ¦ IF ¦ the Cubs did have a chance this last year that just passed ¦ Fuckin™ Eddie Vedder killed that shit dead. Last I checked Eddie ain™t living here, Okay?
Eddie ain™t living here to write a song about my fuckin™ team.”
Ya listening, Ben Schwartz? There’s a clearly defined residency requirement for supporting Billy Corgan’s Chicago Cubs.
isn’t billy corgan some suburbanite from one of those milquetoast communities out near o’hare? like elk grove village or something? what’s the exact residency requirements for cubs fans? cook county? wrigleyville? is there anyway i can get an exemption for a two block radius around western and armitage? please?
There’s a reason that I, born and raised in Chicago and then in the suburbs and then back in Chicago, am a Cardinal fan.
And Western and Armitage houses some of the best 4 a.m. food in the country. You have, like, 42 options there.
I live 2000 feet from the intersection of Armitage and Western. Any restaurant in that area open past 8pm is absolutely execrable.
i’d be lying if i said that didn’t enter into my decision to move into the newest place. i’ve replaced living within staggering distance of the empty bottle to living within staggering distance of arturo’s.
Chicago sucks.
Oh, me-ow! Let me get this straight: the singer from REO Speedwagon is angry at the singer from Foreigner about writing a song about the fucking Cubs? When both women are from the suburbs to begin with?
Hardly worth putting down my muscle relaxers.

I agree with Rog & Rob.
Journey >>>>> Foreigner
any one remember billy c’s stirring rendition of “take me out to the ballgame” during game seven of the 2003 lcs?
maybe the most awkward and uncomfortable (and awesome) thing i have ever seen during a baseball game.
Gerard, exactly what is the residency requirement to be a fan of America’s Team?
I hesitate to say anything about Corgan, since I have been personally chided on this site for repeating the same joke about Corgan cursing the Cubs more than the goat too often. That’s right, a joke was repeated too often for CSTB, if that can be believed.
Notable musical guests in the Wrigley booth: Tom Morello, Vedder, Corgan, Jimmy Buffet. the Osbournes, and Jim Belushi’s band. It’s a target rich environment, what can I say?
And for the record, no, I don’t think Corgan could top “Go, Cubs, Go” anymore than he turned in a serviceable performance leading Bozo’s Big Top band on the last episode of BOZO’S CIRCUS. Belushi actually covered “Go, Cubs, Go” this year, and even Wrigleyville rejected that ape shit. ‘Nuff Said.
Best wishes to Rob Warmoski on his recovery, btw. I await his rationalizing the Mack truck driver into somehow being a Cuburbanite, but will wait until he’s feeling better.
i’ll stand by arturo’s. burritos the size of a can of tennis balls and it’s open 24 hrs. in fact, i’ll probably stand IN arturo’s after pickling my liver at delilah’s this evening then pouring myself into a cab.
