Though Williamson County isn’t necessarily known for being the most enlightened place on Planet Earth, the following press release provides terrific news for recent moms, hungry infants, infantalists and voyueristic minor league baseball fans alike.
From the Round Rock Express official site :
BREASTFEEDING POLICY: The Round Rock Express welcomes mothers who want to breastfeed in the Dell Diamond. The Round Rock Express have privacy areas available or mothers may breastfeed in any public location of the Dell Diamond. All members of the Express staff will support the needs of breastfeeding mothers in this regard.
The Express are leading the host Portland Beavers, 4-1 in the 9th inning. I’m not sure what the Beavers’ breast-feeding policy is, but Portland seem to be falling in line with the rest of the PCL’s practice of flailng away aganst Round Rock’s Jason Hirsh. The righty recorded his 3rd consecutive outstanding performance tonight, limiting the Beavers to 1 run and 5 hits over 7 innings. Interesting to note that amongst the hitters Hirsh faced on Saturday were former Express 2B David Matrenga, confirmed steroid abuser Terrmel Sledge, and widely-suspected ‘roid trafficker Manny Alexander.
Jorge Vazquez of the Tigres de la Angelopolis (above, right) hit 4 HR’s Saturday in a 24-3 beating of Olmecas de Tabasco. Vazquez, 5 for 6 with 10 RBI’s, is just the 4th player in Mexican League history to hit homers in a game.
