(Undead, still drunk, Harry emerges from the grave tonight for beer.)
The Chicago Tribune’s Mike Downey today writes of a new theory of the Cubs Curse. Blaming Trib ownership, his own employer, has apparently escaped his analysis , but his column today includes song and dance man George M. Cohan, a seance to raise the 1908 Cubs from the dead, and handing over some $$$ to Dutchie Caray. “Fearless Bear” at Cubsnet.com cynically dismisses Downey as a Trib hack shilling for Harry Caray’s restaurant. For myself, I prefer an exorcism of Tribco ownership to rousing Frank Chance from the grave. Whatever anti-Christ comes out of all this voo doo, I hope he can hold the 5th spot in the rotation.
Uh, what about spots 2, 3, and 4?
Once The Curse is off and the undead walk Wrigley, Mark Prior will undoubtedly throw again.
I guess if the White Sox can summon Shoeless Joe back in FIELD OF DREAMS, we can bring Prior’s arm back from the dead. Is Lou Brock dead? I’d like to undo that deal, too.
