Reds 7, Cubs 2 (top of the 6th)
Not to drive Ben Schwartz nuts or anything, but Cincinnati’s latest pick-up has apparently struck fear in the hearts of the Cubs’ pitching staff. After homering off Glendon Rusch in his first at bat, the Reds’ newly acquired Bronson Arroyo (above) was walked on 5 pitches with runners at the corners and two out in the home 5th inning. I’m not saying Jerome Williams was pitching around Arroyo to get to Ryan Freel or anything. Just that you’d usually have to wait until at least the 3rd week of the season to see such ineptitude.
It’s obvious that Williams was mesmerized.
Hello?
Look at that picture.
(Or maybe he was trying his best not to hit him.)
I just tell the truth and it sounds like seething.
