(Louisville’s Ellis Myles blocking the shot of Memphis’ Waki Williams in the first half)
Though few tears will be shed for John Calipari’s failure to make the NCAA Tournament (well, none in East Rutherford), tonight’s most oft-played (and hardest to watch) highlight will doubtlessly be the reaction of Memphis’ Darius Washington Jr. after missing his 2nd and 3rd foul shots with time expired, that would’ve won or tied the game. Though not nearly as huge a surprise as North Carolina’s clse call against Clemson yesterday (for one thing, this game was played in Memphis) knocking off no. 6 Louisville in the conference final was the Tigers’ only available route to the field of 64/65, and despite a 25 point afternoon, Washington will have many chances to replay this finish in his mind, if not his DVR.
argh, francisco! fouling a 3-point shot with no time left is how you guys lost to Kentucky! quit doing it! my team got lucky that the Memphis frosh missed 2.
Texas almost lost to Oklahoma State the same way last Saturday.
much as i dislike coach cal, that was tough to watch
