Left unmentioned in some (but not all) accounts of Nats prospect Bryce Harper going apeshit, then being ’86’d by home plate umpire Max Guyll is how the latter might’ve rung up the notorious teen on a pitch that would’ve been Ball Four for virtually any other hitter in Double A. No big thing, however, as it’s easy blog fodder, Harper’s rep takes another hit (imagine the amount of shit he’ll endure the first time he visits Philly or Flushing after getting called up?) and Guyll probably gained a dozen or so new Facebook friends and/or SMS high-fives in the process. Some will say no one attended this game to see Guyll umpire, but it is very possible some percentage of those watching future plate appearances of Harper will be rooting for a similar outcome (video link culled from Hardball Talk)
