Inspired by similar efforts on the part of Grizzlies fans during the Western Conference finals, the Miami Herald’s David J. Neal reports Heat representatives distributed, then later confiscated portraits of actress Eva Longoria during Game 2 of the NBA Finals, perhaps having second thoughts about an attempt distract Longoria’s ex-husband, Spurs PG Tony Parker.
Though some members of the Heat Xtreme Team pep squad helped distribute the Parker-targeted props Sunday, the Heat said this wasn’t a team production at all.
Heat spokesman Tim Donovan said: “Someone who paid to go attend the game [at AmericanAirlines Arena] brought them and were handing them out. He asked members of the Xtreme Team to hand them out, which they did. Until we saw what was going on, then we stopped it. We said, ‘No, we’re not doing this.’?”
Longoria, a former star of a daytime soap opera (The Young and the Restless) and nighttime soap (Desperate Housewives), found her life transformed into a public soap opera. As she divorced Parker in 2010 after three years of marriage, the media learned that one of Parker’s paramours was teammate Brent Barry’s soon-to-be ex-wife.
So with that in mind, wouldn’t it make more sense to hand out giant pictures of Brent Barry? This is how you know Miami’s not a real basketball city.
